Wait, wait, wait, I have an amazing new idea. How about we fix the American school system.

the catholic church gives wine to 7 year olds but gay marriage is wrong

I mean this is totally out of context but is technically true. It is believed to be the blood of god and they are only given 1 tiny sip once a week but otherwise this is totally correct.

the catholic church encourages 7 year olds to drink blood every week but gay marriage is wrong

Can someone who isn’t negatively biased please explain to me what otherkin is? I don’t completely understand and the tags / internet aren’t really helpful. I just want to understand since I’ve had no exposure to this until recently.

An otherkin is a person who believes that on some level (psychologically, spiritually, etc) they are not human.

This often, but does not always, mean that they believe they had a nonhuman past life that shadows their current life to the point where they are more comfortable identifying with it.

Some people split the concept into two groups, ‘otherkin’ and ‘therian’. A therian is someone who identifies as a terrestrial animal, while an otherkin is someone who identifies as a being that is not a terrestrial animal. Many people have multiple kintypes and can fall into both categories.

A related concept is fictivity (also known as fictionkin — many claim that there is a difference between fictives and fictionkin, but that’s a story for another day) and factivity. Both those terms have a few different meanings, but in this context, a fictive is essentially someone whose kintype is a fictional (usually human) character, while a factive is someone whose kintype is a real person (living or dead). It is possible for someone to be any combination of otherkin, therian, fictive, and factive due to having multiple kintypes. (I’m all of the first three, myself.)

Somewhere around the beginning of the year, otherkin became an SJW fad, because Tumblr is a horrible place. With any luck, they’ll abandon it for something else within a year or so. Of course, it’s not like being otherkin on Tumblr was a particularly fun experience before that.

Oh my goodness, thank you for actually taking the time to explain it to me. I really do appreciate it.
It’s a shame that this isn’t more widely known; the only understanding I gained from the Tumblr tags was the troll blogs claiming to be plants or toilets and making fun of it.

I’m really interested in reading further into this. I’m already a believer in the multiverse concept so when I think about it, otherkin is completely logical and understandable! Thank you again for explaining this to me; you’ve at least made one person a little less ignorant and oblivious.

I want one of those marriages where they’ve been married 20 years but are still crazy in love and still cuddle on the couch and kiss a lot. I want those kind of marriages that make my kids nauseous because how in love their parents are.
